What happens after a good pruning

This is what can happen after a good pruning.  Yep, last fall I chopped this rose bush down to the ground. It took me forever to cut the painful branches. A long sleeved shirt and gloves didn’t protect me from about a gazillion thorns. But now I can see that painful pruning was so worth it. This pink beauty has taken off like crazy!  What is it, you may ask?  I have no idea.  About fifteen years ago I ordered this rose bush through a mail order catalog.  I remember it arriving just as we were headed out of town for vacation.  I needed to quickly get it in the ground, somewhere… anywhere.  So, here is where it has sat nicely, filling up space and providing a good dose of color, this year more than ever!  Oh, and when you’re six and discover petals are shaped like hearts, it’s a pretty good day 🙂
