A Kitten Named Daisy

Here she is!  Meet Daisy, my daughter’s sweet little kitten. For as long as I can remember, Emily has wanted a kitty. A week before her seventh birthday, her wish came true.  We visited the Anti-Cruelty Society in downtown Chicago and brought home the most darling little fur friend. ( a big thanks to all there, especially Anne, who made our experience so wonderful)  We didn’t tell Emily where we were headed as we began our drive downtown.  After we parked and walked around the corner to ACS, Emily quickly spotted all of the dogs and cats in the window. She was so excited just to see kitties, and when she realized we were there to meet a little cat to bring home with us– wow! Emily was over the moon!

Daisy and Emily have become fast friends.  It really helps that Daisy is very, and I mean VERY patient with Emily and all of her “ideas”.  Like putting Daisy in the stroller and pushing her around the house.  Cuddling her like a baby. And never, ever, ever letting Daisy out of her sight.  And Daisy is the best reading partner.  She listens so nicely as Emily will page through Dr. Seuss, Elephant and Piggie and a Pinkalicious book or two.  I was amazed the other morning when I actually had to tell Emily to STOP reading to the cat and get ready for school.   She’d gotten up, eaten breakfast and then up in her bedroom… gotten cozy with a book… reading as Daisy listened, wandering Emily’s room inspecting all those treasures little girls have stashed away in every nook and cranny of their bedrooms.

Daisy is such a little blessing to our family.  I can’t wait to see how these two girls grow together.
