Front Door Photos

If there’s a special day at school, I’ll try and grab a photo.  I find the best place and time to do that is literally as Emily and I are walking out the front door.  But as the school year comes to a close, I realize I didn’t document as many of these special days as I thought I did!  I think I missed a few pajama days, a crazy hair day, and who knows what else!  However, I certainly am loving looking back through the year and these few moments frozen in time as Emily took off for the morning bus.  The photos start with “Bears Day” this past fall. It was September, shortly after the start of the school year and Emily was about six-and-a-half-years-old.  The months that followed brought “Neon and Sunglasses Day”,  “Super Hero Day”, Halloween, the 100th Day of School, Valentine’s Day, Dr. Seuss’s Birthday, and lastly… today was “Hawaiian Day”.  My now seven-year-old looks beautiful in her floral patterned dress and an orange lei found at the Dollar Store. Notice in just a couple of the photos, Emily is wearing a grass skirt.  That too, was a big find at the Dollar Store. But she didn’t want anything to do with it.  That is, until MOM put it on and started dancing ( don’t you wish there was a photo of that 😉  It was then that she decided the grass skirt really did “make the outfit”!   I love these photos. I love seeing how she’s grown.  I will treasure these forever, and I hope some day Emily will love looking back at them too.  They are our “Front Door Photos” that will for years, take us back in time.  *** update to add an end-of-the-year super hero day at school!
