Have you been to the Duck Fair? It’s a fun time. There are rides, cotton candy, beer and brats, cheese curds and farm animals… lots of farm animals. Most people call it the Wisconsin State Fair. But in our house, it will always be as Emily calls it– the Duck Fair. That’s because ever since we first took Emily three years ago, she’s had a fascination and love affair with those ducks. You know, the ones floating in the tub of water with numbers on the bottom? You spend wayyyyy too many tickets to pick a couple of ducks and end up with a little prize? Well, yesterday, just minutes after walking through the fair gate, we made a beeline to the ducks. Six tickets later she had a stuffed animal ( a turtle ) in hand. It was then that we could begin to enjoy the other offerings of this summertime tradition. If a state fair is on your agenda, Milwaukee is the place to go! The drive is easy, the food tasty and the rides are just perfect for a little person looking for a whole lotta fun. There’s a mini midway with all of the grown-up rides, but on a smaller scale. This year our daredevil decided to conquer a new ride: the “Drop N’ Twist”. Phil and I still aren’t sure if she really liked it. She didn’t give much of a smile during all of that up and down motion. But then again, how could anything compete with the ducks, right?! 😉
