Ready for the big flight!

They are ready for tonight’s big flight.  We checked in on Santa’s reindeer today. Did you know they train at a zoo in Belvidere?! Yep, it’s true.  Before the eight reindeer take off from the North Pole with Santa’s sleigh in tow, they spend some time at Summerfield Zoo.  “Sprinkles the Elf” has the honor of taking care of the reindeer.  She was so nice to give a tour of the reindeer barn and tell us a bit about flight school for the beloved animals, even bringing Dancer out from her stall to take photos with all of the families who’d come to see the reindeer.  We were able to peek in at the others through the stall doors and while outdoors, see them getting some fresh air and exercise. There was one reindeer we didn’t see. The one with the red nose.  Rudolph, Sprinkles told us, has to stay at the North Pole. It seems that the last time he came to flight school at Summerfield Zoo he showed off a little too much.  When it was time for the Christmas flight, Rudolph’s red glow was almost gone!!!! Tonight, he will be leading the sleigh and those amazing reindeer we saw today will be right behind him. I hope they make a nice, long stop at your house 😉   Merry Christmas to you all, and goodnight! 🎅🏻
