SLIM PICKINGS

I should have done my research. We must be approaching the end of strawberry season? Emily and I decided to socially distance our way through a huge strawberry field at a farm in the far northwest suburbs. Maybe we were too picky while trying to pick the perfect strawberries?  Maybe we didn’t pick the right plants to search for sweetness? Maybe we gave up too early, giving in to the sweltering heat? Maybe it’s all of the above? In any case, we did enjoy walking around, doing a few gymnastics moves and ultimately checking out our favorite apple trees wishing (almost) that fall was upon us and we were taking a hayride to the orchards.  That time will be here before we know it– first, there’s sweet corn and sunflowers to be seen and picked!!!

P.S. don’t let the one photo fool you. We DID end up with more strawberries and a few green beans than what’s pictured.  A few 😉
