Second grade is about so many things. It’s about new math, narrative writing, navigating the playground and for my girl, hopefully finding your favorite treat in your lunchbox. Thanks to Emily’s teacher, second grade is also about having fun. Good class behavior earns the class rewards- one of which is to pick special days at school. The kids decided today should be “Crazy Hair Day”. And, since my girl is crazy about cats, she wanted cat hair for crazy hair day. Cat hair. What do I do for cat hair? Well, how about if we make your hair in the shape of cat ears? I found lots of photos of that on Pinterest. Okay, so I gathered the pipe cleaners and bobby pins and tried to do the “do”. Um, I think the cuties on the Pinterest page have lots and lots of thick hair. While beautiful, Emily’s hair is not so thick. Our “ears” didn’t turn out so well- even with all of those bobby pins. And bobby pins, when you’re not used to them, don’t feel so good. With the clock ticking toward the start of the school day- it was time to punt. Ponytail holders, pipe cleaners and a pink daisy from the bouquet of valentine flowers still looking good on our kitchen counter– voila! — we have “Crazy Hair/ Daisy Style”.
Happy girl. Happy mom. And by the looks of this photo, maybe even a happy kitty?! 🙂
