I always thought I’d have a winter wedding. Maybe it’s because of my love for the movie classic White Christmas. My dress would be similar to those worn by the Haynes sisters as they sang around the Christmas tree. Maybe my dress wouldn’t be Christmas red, but it sure would sparkle… and have fur trim … and I would find a way to carry both a bouquet and a white fur muff! Decades later there was no fur muff, but something even more wonderful. A magnificent cape my mom and grandma found for me to wear over my wedding dress as my husband and I walked out of the church and into the cold. It was my dream wedding.
For Emily, I predict a fall wedding filled with the rich colors of the season. Ever since she could walk, we’d spend hours picking up leaves, rocks, worms…whatever she could get those tiny little fingers on! The other day was no exception. My plan was to take just one… just one quick photo of her in her cute outfit with the fall colors before they all disappear. We had other places to go, things to do! But as children always do, she helped me take a breath and remember to look around.. see the beauty of the moment. So, we spent a little more time than I expected.. wandering and talking as she found leaf after leaf declaring each one more beautiful than the other. She climbed back into the car with her “treasure”, and so did I.
What great memories you have of that day , and memories made today ,Emily will cherish them as she gets older ( thanks to her fantastic mommy ) . I cherish the day you walked out of church with the wonderful man at your side .I can still hear your grandmother saying how proud and beautiful you are inside and out . As we know if the beauty isn’t inside , then the outside is nothing . You have been blessed with both . Love and hugs mom
Love you so much Mom!
